Feowl

Winner, IPI News Innovation Challenge

Feowl is an open-source platform that provides the citizens of Douala, Cameroon, with reliable data about the electricity supply. Using SMSs and instant messaging, it collects data that is then checked and visualized.

AlertePolitique

In partnership with Rue89.com

Using over 6 million data points released as open data by the French government, AlertePolitique is a mobile app that gives users the results for all elections since 2001 in the city they are in. Get it on Google Play and on iTunes.

Datawrapper.de

Client: ABZV

In a project led by @mirkolorenz, @jplusplus_ designed the prototype of this open-source datavisualization tool and takes part in the development of the next version. Datawrapper makes simple, correct and visually attractive charts in seconds.

Journalism++ is based in Paris, but we spend most of our time in Berlin and London. Our offices are variously located in coworking spaces, at friends’ or at Starbucks.

Team

Nicolas Kayser-Bril (nkb.fr), 26, is a nerdy journalist whose idea of fun involves MySQL. He pioneered datajournalism in France and in Europe. He worked previously at OWNI with Pierre, where they set up and managed the datajournalism team.
Pierre Romera (pirhoo.com), a 22-year-old code artist, joins PHP, Ruby, jQuery and more to make data lively and compelling.
Martin Untersinger, 21, is finishing his Master's degree before becoming an online journalist. He worked at OWNI and now at Rue89.
